Text 2 in English

Well, as I once said here, I am training my writing skills in English. That's the reason I'm writing this text, just trying to say something cool and that will help me using this language.

I was wondering which subject would be nice to write about. As my previous post was about Law, I decided to not write about anything related to it. So I decided to write about Caetano Veloso, a well known brazilian composer and singer.

My relation with him started back in 2002, when my mom used to play his records in her car, so I was nearly obligated to listen to his songs, among with other artists, such as Chico Buarque, Fábio Jr., Barry White, etc. Being exposed to all that stuff, I became a music fanatic, as well as a fan of many artists.

But speaking about Caetano, my mom used to sing to me his famous song "O Leãozinho" (the little lion), saying that I was kind of her little lion. So, in 2005, a very sad thing happened to me: I lost my mother, after a 6-year battle against cancer. I became depressed for some months, missing her all the time and trying to remember the best things she teached me.

And time has passed, since in 2008 I became again interested in brazilian traditional music, also called MPB (popular brazilian music). Then, I revisited Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, Belchior, Gilberto Gil, among others, and eventually became again a fan of them.

Since then, I knew almost every song Caetano has made in his classic years (1966 to 1980), as well as many of his more recent songs. Nowadays, I think Caetano is one of the greatest brazilian melodists and lyricists of all time, among with Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim and Renato Russo.

So, it happened to have a show in my city (Fortaleza) of Caetano Veloso (actually yesterday). When I knew this, I automatically asked my father to go with me, and he accepted. So, I went to the concert with him and my stepmom. And it was a really good time. I singed his songs, clapped and almost cried sometimes. I was surprised because I knew almost all of the lyrics he sang, proving I'm a great fan.

Well, this was my today's story. I hope you liked it.
